How to apply for Telegram API: the official portal

Prepare an account that can receive Telegram messages, create an application through the developer portal, and get your own API ID and API Hash.

Quick answer: Use your own TG account or one you are authorized to operate. Verify through the developer portal to obtain ID and Hash. GetTGAPI offers guided assistance; obtain an access code from support, then follow the website steps.

Before you start

This guide is for obtaining API ID and API Hash for your application. If you need a bot token, read how these credentials differ.

Prepare a registered Telegram account you own or are explicitly authorized to operate. Make sure you can read messages in an already signed-in Telegram client. Do not use someone else's shared API credentials as your application's long-term configuration.

Start at the official portal

  1. Open my.telegram.org and check the spelling of the domain.
  2. Enter the number, including its country code, for the account you intend to use.
  3. Read this portal request's verification message in Telegram and enter the code.
  4. Open API development tools and check for an existing application.

If API ID and API Hash are already visible, save them rather than creating again. Telegram currently documents one api_id per phone number. Official application instructions

Fill in application details

If there is no app yet, complete the current form with an app title, short name, platform and intended use. Names should describe your actual application; follow the displayed short-name requirements.

Never include phone numbers, verification codes or private chats in these fields. Correct the indicated field when a format error appears instead of submitting identical details repeatedly.

The official form can change. After submitting, check whether credentials were created. If the page times out, reopen the application page to verify the outcome before submitting again.

Save the result

Store API ID and API Hash separately somewhere safe under your control. Keep every Hash character and avoid extra spaces or line breaks. Do not share screenshots of complete credentials in groups or support chats.

Configuring and authorizing your client is a separate next step. Obtaining API credentials does not itself give a third-party application access to your account.

Apply through GetTGAPI

For assisted applications, get an access code, then enter it at the application entrance. Enter your phone number and portal code only on the application page. Support handles questions, payment checks and code issuance.

We do not require your two-step verification password or add a Telegram client device session. After success, follow saving and deletion instructions. See Pricing for fees and usage rules.
