Getting started

Where to apply for a Telegram API ID: the official portal

Find API development tools and distinguish my.telegram.org, BotFather and api.telegram.org. Contact GetTGAPI support if you are unsure which credentials you need.

Quick answer: Sign in at my.telegram.org and open API development tools to obtain API ID and API Hash. core.telegram.org hosts documentation. BotFather manages bot tokens, which use a different process.

Searches for “Telegram apiid application,” “TG developer portal” or “Telegram app ID” often refer to this application portal. If you are unsure which credential a tool needs, ask GetTGAPI support using the field names only.

Which address serves which purpose?

Address or tool Purpose Does it provide ID and Hash?
my.telegram.org Developer and account-management portal Select API development tools after verification
my.telegram.org/apps Application-details route Requires a valid portal session
core.telegram.org/api API types and development documentation Explains usage, not your account's credentials
BotFather Bot creation and management Provides a Bot Token
api.telegram.org Bot API request service Not a human-facing API ID application panel

Telegram documents the Bot API separately from its client-development API. An address containing “api” may be an endpoint, documentation site or management page; these are not interchangeable. Official API overview

Why does /apps still require verification?

The application route is not a public, verification-free credential link. A browser without a valid portal session must verify the relevant account.

Being signed in to a Telegram client does not establish a portal session in this browser. Follow the current page, then read the app details. Never send its confirmation code to support or a group. For repeated returns to phone entry, see portal sessions and redirects.

Which option should I select after signing in?

Choose API development tools, the entry named in Telegram's application instructions. It is used to create or view the developer application. If credentials already exist, save those details. Official instructions

If a page asks whether to delete your account or why you are leaving Telegram, you entered a different management function. API applications do not require deleting the account. Return to the portal and select the application tools rather than treating account deletion as an ERROR fix.

Continue with the API ID application walkthrough or the form field guide. This article focuses on finding the correct entrance.

Which “Telegram key” does my tool need?

  • api_id together with api_hash: developer application credentials.
  • bot_token: a bot credential managed through BotFather.
  • A platform's access code: issued by that platform, not a Telegram API ID.
  • A phone number and login code: account authorization, not another API application entrance.

A GetTGAPI access code starts our assistance workflow. The resulting ID and Hash are developer application credentials. See the credential comparison.

The portal will not open, or creation shows ERROR

Distinguish an inaccessible page from a failed submission:

  1. Connection failure or a blank page: portal access checks.
  2. No portal confirmation code: code delivery guidance.
  3. ERROR after Create: stage-based troubleshooting. Check for an existing result if creation was submitted.

Still unsure? Open gettgapi.com/en/help#contact and tell support the page and exact symptom. Discuss suitability before obtaining an access code. GetTGAPI is an independent assistance service, not Telegram's official developer platform. See scope and fees.
