Numbers and verification

ERROR after entering a Telegram portal code

Distinguish portal codes, client login codes and access codes; check case, request matching and expiry before continuing.

Quick answer: Check what the received code authorizes, which request it belongs to, and its exact characters. GetTGAPI can help locate the failing stage. Enter a portal code only in the application you started, never in support chat.

For help, contact support at gettgapi.com/en/help#contact. Already have an access code? Start at gettgapi.com/en/redeem.

A received code may belong to another request

Check the message purpose, number and timing first. Developer portal codes, client login codes, two-step passwords and our access codes have different functions and are not interchangeable.

The portal sends codes through Telegram, not SMS. Read the message rather than assuming the newest digits belong here. Official portal login

Check in this order

  1. Same account: switch a multi-account Telegram client to the number being verified.
  2. Same request: do not mix messages if another page just requested a code.
  3. Exact characters: retain letter case, excluding explanation text, spaces, newlines and punctuation. Do not convert letters to digits.
  4. Current page: confirm it is still waiting for this request. If it requires new verification, stop retrying an old code.

For example, a software login followed by a portal application can generate two service messages authorizing different actions.

If the code is expired

Follow a new verification prompt when the portal or our page explicitly requests it. Do not guess old codes or repeatedly open applications while the cause is unknown.

If software explicitly returns PHONE_CODE_INVALID or PHONE_CODE_EXPIRED, Telegram defines invalid and expired client codes respectively. These names do not establish an identical expiry period for web portal codes. auth.signIn errors

Actions that do not resolve request matching

Sending the code to support, sharing the entire Telegram message or disabling two-step verification does not prove the portal request matches. Describe only the error and stage.

Codes entered on our page verify your initiated request. Support does not receive codes or two-step passwords. If someone asks for them in chat, verify the entry point first.

After verification

Continue to read or create the application. Complete ID and Hash are the final success indicator.

For assistance, contact support, then start with your access code. If you already have an active GetTGAPI record, continue that record first.
