Quick answer:
api_idandapi_hashidentify an application connecting to Telegram. They support custom clients, messaging tools, backups, channel administration and support integrations. Access to an account still requires that account's authorization and the permissions for each operation.
GetTGAPI organizes these capabilities by the task you want to accomplish. Searches for “Telegram API ID uses,” “apiid tools” or “API hash use cases” should start by distinguishing application credentials from a Bot Token.
Choose a development path
| Your goal | Practical guide | Requirement to check |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop, Android or multi-account client | TDLib client development | Separate authorization and storage per account |
| Auto replies, scheduling and notifications | Message automation | Intended recipients, triggers and limits |
| Channel publishing and group moderation | Channel and group management | Appropriate administrator rights |
| History export and incremental backups | Chat backup and search | Accessible records and a retention scope |
| Photo, voice, video and file archives | Media and file handling | Download permissions and storage capacity |
| Support inbox, tickets or CRM | Customer service integration | User, Bot or Business identity |
| Bots, Mini Apps and interactive menus | Bot API versus MTProto | HTTP Bot API usually needs only a Bot Token |
| Sessions, devices and privacy controls | Credential and session security | Protect application and account credentials separately |
| Translation, transcription and calls | Accessibility tools | Eligibility, quotas and media processing |
| Stars, subscriptions, paid content and gifts | Payments and business features | Payment rules and order verification |
| An official Bot API server on your infrastructure | Self-hosted Bot API | Application credentials, Bot Token and operations |
Application credentials are not an account session
The ID and hash belong to the developer application. A Bot Token authenticates a bot. A session or authorization key represents an established account authorization.
A tool reading your Saved Messages needs application credentials and your account authorization. A basic bot responding to /start normally uses a Token from BotFather. API Hash cannot replace that Token. Read the credential comparison before configuring software.
Build one useful workflow first
- Define a narrow task and the chats it may access.
- Choose TDLib or a suitable MTProto library for user-account features; start with Bot API for standard bot interactions.
- Authorize your own test account or bot and verify one message, file or administrative action.
- Add reconnection, deduplication, rate-limit handling, revocation and data deletion before expanding the workflow.
Developer portal confirmation, client login and Bot updates are separate processes. Do not reuse a code across those processes or send login codes to support staff.
Boundaries that credentials do not remove
These credentials do not reveal arbitrary private chats, hidden phone numbers or private channels you cannot access. They do not remove bans, guarantee SMS delivery or grant unlimited requests. Account permissions and Telegram's rules still apply.
Cloud chats, Bot chats and Secret Chats use different mechanisms. An API Hash does not make your support system end-to-end encrypted. Review session security before storing authorizations.
Get application credentials
Follow the official application walkthrough, or contact GetTGAPI at gettgapi.com/en/help#contact when the developer portal returns ERROR or application creation fails. With an access code, start at gettgapi.com/en/redeem.
Telegram's API is free. GetTGAPI charges for application assistance; the software described here requires separate development.
Common questions
Can one application operate several accounts? Each account needs its own authorization. Isolate sessions, permissions and operation records.
Do I need new credentials for every use case? Check your existing developer application and the target software before applying again. Application credentials and individual account sessions are managed separately.
Does GetTGAPI supply all these tools? This guide describes Telegram development capabilities. The application service supplies application credentials, not a finished client, CRM or payment system.
