API use cases

Build a Telegram client with TDLib, api_id and api_hash

Plan a desktop, Android or multi-account Telegram client: configure application credentials, authorize users, synchronize messages and isolate sessions with TDLib.

Quick answer: Official TDLib can handle Telegram communication and synchronization while you build the interface and application logic. api_id and api_hash identify your application; each user must still authorize their account.

Possible products include desktop workspaces, Android clients, accessible reading interfaces and authorized multi-account tools. Use this implementation sequence alongside the TDLib introduction.

Choose the first set of features

Start with chat lists, messages, files and unread state. Add contacts, Saved Messages, folders, search, profiles or privacy settings when needed. Check the selected TDLib version before implementing polls, emoji, stories or Secret Chats.

A multi-account button is only the interface. Each account also needs independent authorization state, database storage, notification routing and logout behavior. A switched tab must never retain the previous account's sending identity.

Credentials do not complete login

After application configuration, TDLib reports authorization state changes. Follow the actual requested step: phone number, code, two-step password or another supported official requirement. Do not hard-code a promise that every flow sends an SMS.

The developer portal application assisted by GetTGAPI is separate from this client authorization. Obtaining credentials does not sign an account into your software or grant additional SMS capabilities.

Implement in five stages

  1. One account, read-only: initialize an instance with isolated storage, authorize and display its chat list.
  2. Synchronization: process updates and reconnection, including new, edited and deleted messages.
  3. Sending and files: verify text first, then transfers, progress, cancellation and failures.
  4. Multiple accounts: isolate contexts and route notifications to the correct account.
  5. Exit and cleanup: distinguish closing the program, clearing a cache and logging out of Telegram.

Server-side messaging logic does not require an Android emulator. Platform notifications, background execution and device features still need their own integration.

Practical release checks

Check Expected result
Restart Restore the correct account and data without creating unnecessary authorizations
Reconnect Recover missing updates without treating replayed events as new outgoing work
Account switching Keep messages, file paths and notifications assigned correctly
Revoked session Stop operations and show that authorization has expired
Diagnostics Exclude codes, passwords and sessions from logs and error reports

Protect application configuration appropriately for its distribution model. Account sessions need separate, stricter access controls; possession of an API Hash is no reason to expose session downloads.

Obtain credentials, then develop

Follow the application guide. If the developer portal returns ERROR, contact GetTGAPI through gettgapi.com/en/help#contact; use an access code at the application entry.

Already have credentials? Continue with the TDLib JSON interface. GetTGAPI provides application assistance; client development, distribution and data handling remain the developer's responsibility.

Common questions

Is Android required? No. TDLib supports multiple platforms; choose the interface and build setup for your target.

Does using an official client's name grant its permissions? No. Application identity, account authorization, feature eligibility and server rules are separate conditions. Follow the API terms when distributing your client.
