API use cases

Telegram API channel and group management workflows

Plan channel publishing, join requests, moderation and statistics with Telegram API. Check administrator rights, chat types and eligibility before building management tools.

Quick answer: Telegram API supports channel publishing, join-request handling, member restrictions and eligible statistics. api_id and api_hash identify the application; the account's or bot's actual administrator rights determine which actions it can perform.

For a basic welcome or moderation bot, evaluate Bot API first. TDLib or MTProto may suit tools that need broader user-client capabilities for communities you administer.

Map tasks to permissions

Task Useful product behavior Check first
Publish, edit or pin announcements Draft, review, publish and record the message link The relevant publishing, editing or pinning right
Manage invitations and join requests Track sources and approve requests Invitation rights and link state
Restrict, remove or restore a member Show the target, duration, reason and outcome Moderation rights and target role
Organize topics and discussions Route questions by topic Chat type and topic capabilities
Show logs and statistics Display accessible actions and metrics Visibility and statistics eligibility

Permission to publish does not imply permission to promote administrators. Adding a bot to a group does not automatically grant moderation rights.

Start with one announcement

Select a channel you manage and check current permissions. Keep drafts separate from published messages. Mark a post as published only after a confirmed result; reconcile an uncertain delivery before retrying.

Then add pinning, scheduling or deletion. Clearly identify the affected chat and content before a destructive action. See the permissions reference.

Make moderation traceable

Record the operator, chat, member identifier, action, duration and result. Avoid copying entire private conversations into administrative logs. Provide a separate action for lifting a restriction and recheck rights before queued work executes.

Display names can change or be shared by several users. Associate requests with stable Telegram identifiers, and provide human review for mistaken automated decisions.

Statistics are not available everywhere

Detailed statistics depend on server-side eligibility and permissions. An API ID does not unlock every channel's analytics. Show an unavailable state when appropriate rather than presenting missing data as zero growth.

Member lists, administrative logs and statistics are distinct capabilities. A partial accessible result is not proof that all users have been retrieved. Continue with the statistics guide for interface details.

Verify with different roles

Test an ordinary member, a limited administrator and an appropriately authorized administrator in your own group. Check denied actions, restriction duration, lifting restrictions and repeated clicks.

Finally revoke the tool's rights. Queued actions should stop with a clear explanation. Permissions can change after deployment, so successful testing does not replace runtime checks.

Get application credentials

If your chosen user-client integration needs api_id and api_hash, follow the application instructions. For developer portal ERROR issues, contact GetTGAPI at gettgapi.com/en/help#contact, or start with an access code at the application page.

GetTGAPI assists with application credentials. It does not sell group permissions or remove account and channel restrictions.
