Profile changes require cache synchronization
Names, biographies, avatars and usernames live in different objects or extended information, with corresponding updates. Stale customer names call for checking cache invalidation rather than restoring the first name ever received.
Emoji status is separate from the display name. Eligibility differs for users, channels and groups, and collectible status can affect appearance.
Palette IDs are not RGB values
Palettes have IDs and light/dark color sets. Hidden palettes should not be offered for selection, but received content may still require rendering them. Avatar fallback colors need readable contrast.
Themes, wallpapers and sounds have separate lifecycles
Wallpapers may contain images, patterns or fills. Theme-file formats depend on the client’s theme engine. Notification sounds have upload, save, apply and remove operations, with configured size and duration limits.
Implementation recommendations
Submit only intended profile changes and refresh the affected cache after success. Preserve Unicode names and provide usable emoji fonts. An image URL is not a permanent avatar identity. Check appearance in light, dark and high-contrast settings, including resource-loading failures.
